Back in the city.

So I’m back in NYC after an exciting and productive time at Maker Faire San Mateo and an all-too-short stopover with family in Jerseyville. It’s great to be back in the city though and I’m excited to hit the ground running on Tuesday, with tons of post-ITP opportunity. Welcome back to the real world.
Incidentally, this is my first mobile post through Flickr. I hadn’t exactly found a great motivation to join the Flickr devotees prior to this, but we’ll see if it draws me in.

Sitting in the parking lot of a panda express somewhere between Morgan Hill and Gilroy, the past few days have been exhilirating and exhausting. It wasn’t a clean end, but it was a pretty decent sendoff. My coworkers will prolly laugh at me, but I’m near tears. Three years, this show had me hooked from the stalking outside the Camelot to an uncertain, what would have happened moment in the rain. It was a show that respected its viewers (some might say too much). Bonus points went out to those who paid close attention. Keeping up with Veronica, or skipping ahead of her, was a thrill. Few other storytellers craft that much detail into anything (I haven’t seen anything like it since the Animaniacs really). VM has really changed the way I look at TV. 3 is a good number, it’s my favorite number actually. I couldn’t imagine any less, but I wouldn’t have minded s’more. Here’s hoping VM pulls a Nancy Drew.
And Harry Potter is ending too. Frak. Wait…

So my landlord has had a change of heart I’m not sure if it’s our certified letter with legal language stating his responsiblity to try to re-rent our place, the fact of June rent coming or that he is buying time to talk to his lawyer who wrote up the illegal lease lingo in the first place.
Drama postponed. Meanwhile, how do I find someone to rent our place when I want to run screaming from it?

i just did a 5-day fast. i’ve never done this before. crazy. went up to a cabin in a little village outside the city. no food, no internet for 5 days. the local villagers probably thought i had totally lost it, but they were politely curious. discovered it was more a mental test than anything else. it’s bizarre to counter one’s natural instinct for survival by just deciding not to eat. the first

So this is wild.
Closing next week. Big project finished. Bonus?–Hopefully. Landlord gone mad and trying to kick us out by next Tuesday.
Wild.
I know you can’t give a 7 day eviction notice, but the fact that our landlord thinks he can make us leave and pay the next 3 months rent and keep our deposit makes me wonder if he’s sane.
Wild.
…here’s hoping the bad luck streak ends with a last minute save of VM? Yeah, I know. This week sucks.

This comes to you from a quiet hotel lounge on the east side of Denver on our way to the MAKE Magazine Maker Faire, where we will join some 400 makers (including a handful of ITP’ers such as Andrew Schneider, Team Botanicalls, Giana Gonzalez, Tom Igoe, and last but not least, FabInfo instructors Toru Hasegawa and Mark Collins) with ORB and ultraORB in hand and ready to exhibit. A few tens of thousands of attendees are expected of all ages and all walks of life and I’m expecting a fantastic time sharing our work with the curious as well as exploring the rest of the exhibits. I’m also slated to give a talk/demo on Thursday’s Maker Day, a day of events held specifically for the exhibitors and other presenters and organizers.
Maker Faire is held at the San Mateo Fairgrounds in San Mateo California and is open to the public on May 19-20. Advance tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for students 21 and under, and $5 for children 12 and under ($20/$15/$5 respectively on-site). Hope to see you there.
