This is a burger chain, so I’m not really sure if they franchise out of the city, but if you’re in SF, I highly recommend trying their garlic fries.

There’s this huge snow storm warning for Toronto on TV (as in the warning seems huge, but so far, nothing has fallen from the sky yet). But inside it doesn’t feel like anything. I can’t hear the wind blowing outside, but all the channels are saying “snow, fleet, and ice…” etc. etc.

I recommend the pumpkin, shrimp and rice dish. Don’t eat dessert there because there’s a fabulous gelato place right across the street called Probuzione Propria.

On a plane, see you all later! #

Check it out. This is an amazing tool for runners to be able to record and display the experience of a race (or maybe just a normal run, why not?) I wish that I had been able to do something like this for the marathon I ran in 2006 (maybe taking all th…

The case (aka switch in other languages) control structure in Ruby is great. The first when clause that evaluates true is the only one executed.
Compare to PHP’s switch, which lets execution fall-through to every passing case until it finds a break. That’s just wrong. It’s so counter-intuitive. Sure, a veteran PHP [...]

A little press from the Guardian’s art blog, here. Mark Hooper runs a bit cool on SL and its economy, but speaks positively about the gallery itself, and my and the other artists’ work. Snips:

Dear Wordpress,
I really didn’t think it was going to work out between us. Things were becomming confusing. All these mixed messages. But then I figured out where the issue was. I immediately deleted the problem files from my server (which, incidentally, I had previously installed in order to clear up the recent breakdown in communication- [...]

A while back I participated in Dan Winckler’s video improv workshop. It was fun day and I got introduced to his work. I was happy he when sent out an email announcement that he will be performing with {Rake} at Monkeytown. It was a fun show and my first time going to MT [...]

I’ve recently been inspired by some text visualization methods. Of specific interest to me are Edward Tufte’s Sparklines, simple word sized graphics, which allow their users to get the gist of what’s happening with the data without needing to fully read it all. The graphic below is a 13th century manuscript bible with these amazing [...]

And it works beautifully.
Reasons why this is a great application:
1. 1 step registration process
2. 1 feature - a bookmarklet you drag to your toolbar and click to save links you want to read later
3. 1 page that aggregates all those saved links for you to check out when you have the time
That’s it.

At the recommendation of a friend, who questioned the very idea that someone would plug their headphones in to a sign, I did just that. The experience was, as you might guess, pretty stupid.
