Summer recount

Since I last wrote here:

my plans for the summer were abruptly canceled // i decided to find a new apartment // found myself back on the boat and went to a few islands in the Caribbean, exposed to some different life styles and stingrays! // came back to Mexico to a great surprise // saw my sisters // traveled a bit around Mexico both on and off the boat //went back to island I’m so fond of, Cozumel // spent time with my dad // came back to NY in the heat of the summer // furnished my apartment! // went back on the boat and through the Panama Canal // saw friends I hadn’t seen in a while // got a bike

And now the semester is here again and I’m definitely looking forward to the craziness wave that’s about to hit!

Union Square after the Super Bowl

(last night, after the Super Bowl)

- let’s go somewhere, see what’s happening.

5 of us started on a mission to Union Square. It seemed really lame at first, a few people yelling “Boston sucks” and “Go Giants”, the police right there to break up anything that could arise. After a while we realized we were just waiting for someone to do something stupid. A few trucks celebrated with the small crowd, and we finally got some action.

New York Imaginary and Reality

Or Narrative Levels of NYC

Manhattan:
Chelsea, Upper West Side, Upper East Side, Midtown, Greenwich Village, East Village, West Village, Lower East Side, Financial District, Harlem, Soho, Tribeca, Gramercy…

I never wondered what was after the Upper East and West sides. Central Park north is probably the limit of Manhattan as far as I’m concerned. After that… I really don’t know.

“This is the M5” the driver states as I get in the bus. It seems like she expects me to get right back off. Looking at the other passengers in the bus it’s easy to understand why she probably expects a different kind of person. It’s a Saturday night. Most people seem to be over 40. Going home? Coming back? I wonder if they feel as confused as me about where is home. (more…)

Planet in Peril

A free movie in the closest movie theater sounds like too good a deal to pass for any student, specially in New York! That’s how today I ended up at CNN’s “Planet in Peril” showing at the IFC on 6th Avenue.

A bit of context

After all the debate around this little machine lately, I feel the need to write my own experience using it. (more…)

Quite an interesting part of my life, my experience in ITP is only beginning!

Every day I’m a bit less lost and a bit more curious and into it.

Still it’s hard to describe how intense this process can be, starting school and also beginning a life in NY.
