Our first Flash animation music video

This is a storyboard for the flash animation.
Haejung and I will make a kind of music video? music animation and we going to mix stopmotion style and real film effect.

It is kind of big challenge because you know,
The story board looks great!!! but none of our group have a tiny flash skill.

McLuhan introduced a curious way of thinking about all human artifacts and innovations — as extensions of some aspects of our physical selves. A new artifact, or what McLuhan calls a medium, in essence, creates an entirely new creature that only seems the same from the biological point of view. It is an idea that is difficult to incorporate into our way of thinking — the fact that you use a telephone makes you a radically different sort of creature than the creature who used pen and paper a couple of centuries ago. What the telephone did to society and what the content of the new telephone medium was, are, according to McLuhan, entirely different things. What is more, the transforming power of a medium, which is its “message” is far more important than its content. Nationalism is often identified with the Gutenberg revolution, but it was McLuhan who first recognized that the nature of the medium itself, more than what was communicated, determined its impact. Form not only dictates content, it has an additional effect that is independent of content. Radio so completely determined the nature of the ideas it would propagate that the content itself was almost an afterthought.

“letter comes to live when human being call it”

The project ‘In Your Hands’ is based on the reason of letters existing. It is about the relationship between letters and human being. By using two hands, you can make meaningless characters readable.

There are more than 2,500 languages and letters in the world. All letters have a strong influence on creating different cultures and nationality of the world. Since their roots are not started from themselves but from people, these words would not be meaningful if human being don’t exist. Only when people write, read, listen, and record the letters, it can have the reason of existence. It means that there is no life force in the letter combination before he or she needs it.

Project ‘In Your Hands’ works based on motion detection of video camera. A video camera will detect your two hand’s position and calculate the distance between two hands on the screen. The message which called from the Internet will generate animations only between your two hands.
During you make it readable, you can see a beautiful disjointing and combining of letter combination.

At first, there are bunch of characters on the screen.

When a person puts his or her hands wide apart, The video begins to capture the hands and characters will gather together within fixed area between two hands.

A person has to move his or her hands and try to find the hidden spot in order to make characters readable.

If a person claps, new characters come up and the hidden
spots change their positions.

We want to submit our pcom final project to Winter show.

And finally, We finished our first movie.
I think it was really good experience. Even though it is not enough, we could learn a lot about sound effect, lighting, and editing. And I think we can try a different ending.
