"Oh by the way, don't vote for me"
To get something done in Congress, nothings speedier than a personal attack.
"An incident involving Rep. Tim Murphy (R-Pennsylvania) also helped fuel the crackdown on spoofing. Murphy was a victim of the technology last fall when a nonprofit group phoned hundreds of his constituents and played a recorded message critical of him. Though the group identified itself in the recording, it spoofed its caller ID to make the calls appear to be coming from Murphy's office, he says.
Unfortunately, rather than do ALL his homework, he's using the terrorist card fear factor.
"As we looked into this, we saw that stalkers could use this, child predators, people who are trying to harass an ex-spouse, identity thieves," says Murphy. "Even terrorists ... could use this."
