Setting up web space for your class

Nancy Lewis can help get this set up.

There are several option for web space and you are welcome to use any or all that best fit you and your class needs. They include:

• A syllabus and classwork page at VarWiki (various class wikis)
  http://itp.nyu.edu/varwiki/
  other pages can be set up as well
• A blog on our multiuser blog system

  A couple existing examples:

  For this option log into
  http://itp.nyu.edu/blogs/wp-login.php
  with your netid and netid password. This gets you in the system with a blog based on your netid. Nancy can then set up a class blog and make you the administrator. You can decide which level of access your students can have. Note: your students will have to be in the system (have logged in already) before you can add them to the class blog.
• A class wiki can be set up using pmwiki (http://pmwiki.org/)
  http://itp.nyu.edu/classname/
  The default set up for this is you would be the admin, anyone can read it, only itp community can edit it. This can be changed to further restrict edit and/or read to just your class. I wouldn't suggest opening edit to anyone because of spammers, but we can set up one or more guest logins.
• A directory for your class
  http://itp.nyu.edu/classname/
  which you can set up any way you want. In order for you to access this directory Nancy will have to request an account be set up for you on the server. Alternatiively or additionally, if you prefer, one or more of your students can be granted access to the directory and keep it updated for the class.
• Set it up in your own itp account
  http://itp.nyu.edu/~netid/classname/
  In additiion, you can request a redirect be set up so that students can easily remember your URL.
  So that: http://itp.nyu.edu/somename/
  will automatically redirect to:
  http://itp.nyu.edu/~netid/ or http://itp.nyu.edu/~netid/classname/
