Step 3: Save Archived Stream as Quick Start File
Use VLC to convert archive created by QTBroadcaster to "Fast Start"
Movie for presenting on ITPLive site:
Open VLC and choose "Streaming/Export Wizard" from the File menu.
Select "Transcode/Save to file" and click "Next"
Check "Select a stream" and click "Choose"
Navigate to the archive you just created (probably in the "Movies" directory for the current user) and click "Open" then click "Next"
Make sure that both "Transcode video" and "Transcode audio" are NOT checked and click "Next"
For the "Encapsulation format" choose "MOV" and click "Next"
In the text box labeled "Select the file to save to" click "Choose" and create a file with a ".mov" extension. This will be the exported file when you are done. If you are converting an ITPLive file, name it itplive_daymonthyear.mov. Example: itplive_07092007.mov for a Sept 7th event.
Click "Next", review the settings and click "Finish"
Open up the movie you just created to make sure it works as it should and then follow the "Upload to Archive Instructions" below.
There is also a bunch more here about doing the settings up the right way should the presets not work:
