What you might want to get:

If you're doing a lot of video work, you'll probably want to invest in an external Firewire hard drive. Apple recommends a drive with a minumum speed of 7200 rpm (rotations per minute) and a minimum data rate of 3.7 MB/second. Most drives on the market these days meet or exceed those specs. A Firewire drive is good for storing large files, and also for transporting your work from home to school, lab to lab, computer to computer. You can plug your drive right into the front of our G5s.

Where do the headphones go?

The video stations are set up to play audio through the computer, even while you're logging footage from a DV tape. So you should be able to hear something if you plug into the headphone jack on the front of the Mac — no need to pull the computer out to get behind it.

That said, settings have a way of getting un-set. So if you're having trouble with audio (or anything else for that matter) refer to the troubleshooting page.
