SALUTE INFORMATION FOR PARTICIPATING GRADUATES
Reminder:
The Tisch School of the Arts’ Salute to the Class of 2006 will be
held TODAY Monday, May 8 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in The Theater
at Madison Square Garden (7th Avenue and 32nd Street, NYC).
Oskar Eustis, the Artistic Director of The Public Theater, will be
the honored speaker.
Participating graduates should arrive by 5:30 p.m. so that there will
be time to check in, pick up your TSOA pin, enrobe, and line up for
the processional. When you arrive at the venue, please enter at the
Expo Entrance at 8th Avenue and 32nd Street. You will be directed
upstairs to the Expo Center, where you will enrobe and line up for
the procession. A table will be set up at the entrance of the Expo
Center with stacks of programs, Tisch Pins, and safety pins and bobby
pins, should you need them.
The procession will then be directed down the stairs to the corridors
outside the Theater at MSG for the final line-up before the start of
the ceremony.
PLEASE DO NOT BRING ANY BAGS, OR ANY POSSESSIONS YOU CANNOT CARRY
WITH YOU THROUGH THE PROCESSIONAL. As our final staging area will
be the corridor outside of the theater, which abuts the lobby area
for the main arena and is a public space, there is obviously NO PLACE
to secure valuables that you may wish to store. The rule to remember
is: if you can’t carry it while marching up and down a stage in a cap
and gown, it shouldn’t be on your person when you arrive at MSG.
Guests will be admitted to the lobby beginning at 6:00 p.m.
Volunteers will begin seating guests beginning at 6:15 p.m.
Please remember that you MUST bring your candidate’s ticket, your
student ID, and your ACADEMIC ATTIRE with you. YOU CANNOT
PARTICIPATE IN THE EVENT UNLESS YOU ARE DRESSED IN NYU ACADEMIC
ATTIRE (CAP, GOWN, AND MASTER’S HOOD).
If you’ve placed an order, but haven’t yet picked up your academic
attire, you can pick it up at Jerome S. Coles Sports Center, Mercer
Street between Bleecker Street and Houston Street TODAY Monday, May 8
from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
If for some reason, you haven’t yet ordered your academic attire, you
can still do so by going to Coles and completing an academic attire
order form. Remember to ask for the WHITE-COLLARED hood when
picking up/ordering your academic attire.
As you will NEED your cap, gown, and hood for Thursday’s
Commencement, please be careful about getting it wrinkled or stained
in any post-Salute celebration that you may be involved in.
If you have any questions, please contact me before 3:00 p.m. TODAY,
as I will be leaving the office around that time to go to MSG to
assist with the preparation for the Salute.
Good luck to all our graduates, and congratulations on completing the
requirements for the degree, and for providing us with a stunning
series of presentations during Thesis Week.
