Security Reminder

All ITP Announce Messages are archived here – http://itp.nyu.edu/help/announce/

To ITP Students:
As many of you know, a member of our community recently had a laptop
stolen from the floor.
It is unfortunate whenever this kind of thing happens — it is
something we take very seriously — NYU Public Safety and the NYC
Police have taken a report and are investigating.
We view these incidents as opportunities to revisit and improve our
security procedures and as a wake up call to everyone here — we all
have to remember to pay attention if this is to remain a safe and
pleasant place to work and study and socialize.
The most important thing each one of us can do is simply to protect
and safeguard our valuables at all times — just as you would in any
public place — don’t leave your bag or laptop or iPod laying on a
table, in a classroom or otherwise unattended — even for a moment.
Keep your locker locked.
If you see a suspicious person on the floor please report this to ANY
ITP staff member — we will gladly step in and make sure that this is
a legitimate visitor.
In the event of an emergency of any kind you can call NYU Public
Safety at 212-998-2222.
Thank you.
George
