Hi,
I wanted to let everyone know that this Monday, September 22, itp.nyu.edu
will be unavailable between 9am and 11am while we switch over to a new
server.
All your files will be copied over and after the switch over, you should
be able to login the same way with netid/passwd
As this is an upgrade some things will work differently. I’ll be available
to help resolve any issues that arise.
Some specifics:
It’s set up with:
Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5.2 (Tikanga)
MySQL 5.0.45
PHP 5.1.6
Perl, v5.8.8
Python 2.4.3
Ruby 1.8.5
PHP scripts will now be running as the userid (netid) of the owner of the
files. So it will no longer be necessary to make directories world
writable for php to write to them. Also, since php is not running as user
‘apache’ we were able to switch safe mode off.
