Ever worry about saving the environment? No? Did you know that even when your lights and other appliances are turned off they still sap energy just by being plugged in? Now there is a no brainer solution. UnPlug is a light sensitive device that unplugs your utilities when you leave the house.
A speaker came into class and spoke about home devices helping you out passively. I decided that I wanted to create a retrofit for a surge protector which would unplug it from the wall. Optimally UnPlug would be activated by your cell phone via bluetooth and replug itself upon your cell phone's return. For the proof of concept, however, I opted to use a photocell for activation, and UnPlug was able to do only that, a task sufficient to leave the user more energy conscious.
