James Tunick

Alumni, Class of 2005

James Tunick is an entrepreneur, artist, and software developer. He is founder of StudioIMC (http://StudioIMC.com), a new media agency in New York City that represents programmers and artists from around the world (many of them ITP students, alumni, and researchers). Tunick also owns the Web development firm Web5design and the hyper-local social plaform http://Mapcidy.com.

StudioIMC builds software for the Outernet that invites audience participation with billboards in Times Square, jumbortrons at MLB stadiums, projections at Live Nation concerts, video walls in building lobbies, and on movie screens across the U.S..

StudioIMC also showcases the works of its programmers and artists in museum shows and in the IMC Exposition, a conference focusing on the intersection of creativity and technology in public spaces. ITP has been an invaluable partner of the last two IMC Expositions.

Tunick has two patents pending and his work has been featured in Rollingstone Magazine, the Museum of Modern Art, and in two books. Tunick's art and technology have also been featured in the Time Warner Center, Times Square, movie theaters, as well as the NY Times, LA Times, on NY1 News, and The Discovery Channel. Tunick received his BA from Yale University and his Masters from NYU Tisch Interactive Telecommunications Program (ITP).
