Nurit Bar-shaiAlumni, Former Adjunct, Class of 2006
Nurit is a New York-based artist. Her main interest lies in exploring
tensions between the mundane and the uncanny in everyday life.
Bar-Shai's work employs video and new technologies to explore
fundamental questions of presentation and representation, to reframe
the familiar and turn audiences into foreigners in their own
ontological domains. Her work has been exhibited widely in venues such
as the Brooklyn Museum, Team galley in New York, and international
festivals taking place in the U.S., Europe, and Asia. Bar-Shai
attaneded a residency at ETC, the Makor Steinhardt Center and
Harvestworks. Her art received favorable reviews in many media outlets,
including Ha´aretz, The New York Times and Art on Paper.
