Robert Clark

Alumni, Class of 2008

Up until now I've been majoring in fiction writing at Purchase college, and am still currently working on a novel, a novella and several short stories. At ITP I'm interested in exploring modes of interactivity in storytelling, especially in broadening the modes of expression available in modern video-game design, which at the moment appears to lack a cohesive and coherent method of emotive communication within the context of its characters, thereby lessening the fields of choice available to players. If the medium is the message, as McLuhan said, then the impact that games have on our society might be qualified as introducing the idea of choice to narratives, and as a part of a larger movement towards audiences demanding greater control over their entertainment counts as a primary attraction of mine to this program.
