Although I have observed this content from a PC, I think that such content will be more adapted to a mobile device, and be introduced in a newer platform.
In the current world, everyone owns a device called "gadget." Either it is a small device like MP3 player or it is a big device like car, it's like a favourite toy for the user. And, everyone gotta need or want one since everyone talks about it, at work, at school, and at everywhere.
However, unless the buyer is an engineer or a gadget-geeky person, there is no way to find the best one, or at least the one that fits his or her financial and usage requirements.
In order to faciliate this, CNET.com has been putting reviews of all possible devices along with various users' feedback on the usage of the device. Moreover, they also showed where one could actually buy the device at a reasonable price.
Following this path, CNET.com has developed a Internet TV site, called CNETTV. This site is a demonstration of the whole CNET site. They mention about what is new in the current world of technology, and they also contain various features to Shows, Movies, and Musics. Moreover, the interface is wonderfully designed with a remote control looking control panel, where the user gets to customize everything. Moreover, the featured shows are very well filmed, edited to enhance the quality, thus allowing the users to appreciate the show as well as getting useful information for his or her next toy purchase.
Moreover, their editors developed some shows where the subject of the show is the newest gadget, and they explain them in an amusing and descriptive way.
From Content Producer's points of view, the following list define the pros and cons of this type of high-tech gadget contents:
PROS:
- Very appropriate to the medium of Internet (Web Page, Dynamic GUI, and alot of possible features due to Internet)
- The actual contents are very interesting to gadget manias and also newbies.
- Contents are fun to watch, but also contain very useful information that would be very useful.
CONS:
- More user interaction could make better. As the user comments on blog, if they can comment on these contents on site, it would be better.
- Some Technologies are hard to understand. Technologies need to be introduced in a more easy fashion.
