But when it comes to sports show on the internet, it is a completely different story. Watching a good old sport game is all about Live! So that we sort all the online sports sites into two parts. 1. Live-- Throughout our research, we found out that most live games broadcast on the internet are from the official website of the league or association. (e.g. NBA MLB NFL) If fans wish to check out the latest games, they have no choice to view the above mentioned sites but to turn on their TVs. 2. Encores/Highlights/Reports-- By viewing the above sites, you may not see all the games in Live, but you certainly can view the post game reviews, clips, re-runs, or news reports. We find interesting that ESPN.com doesn't have a live broadcast, we figure that in their mind, they may not wish their website to compete with their cable content on TV.

In conclusion, where does it go? We do think that there are several to be improved: 1.Interactivity:There should be more interactivity between the users. Such as real time voting or on demand score boards throughout the globe. 2.Strategic Planning:The old experience or know-hows of running a successful TV show may not work at the world of internet TV at all. The competitors are fast and hard to predict. Thinking different;y is critical to keep up. 3.It is not free!! How to profit? As a online content provider, if is very important to convince or change the viewers habit of "everything online should be free." Placing an ad on the right place of the UI is very important. 4.Not Competing with traditional TV: Last but not least, it is not a competition between traditional TV, internet TV and TV should be supplementary, not racing against each other. Both sides shuld take care of all aspects, they should make watching TV easy anytime and anywhere. |
