Main: Resources

Finding physical computing parts and materials can be difficult. When you find good vendors, online or local, list them here.

Tom's physical computing resources blog - a collection of vendors for electronics, mechanical supplies, hardware, materials, and more.

If anyone is looking for a used copy of Forrest's Mims's book, "Getting Started in Electronics," abebooks.com has some (what I've found to be) the lowest prices online. http://dogbert.abebooks.com/servlet/SearchResults?an=forrest+mims&y=16&tn=getting+started+in+electronics&x=62 Hope this helps...DS

In case anyone is looking for free samples of things we use in PComp, here are two sites: http://www.spectrasymbol.com/samplerequest.html http://www.austriamicrosystems.com/03products/order_AS1500.htm ds286

I put together a sticker design in Illustrator for the 18F452, it is a color coded pin layout that goes right on top of the chip, just get an Avery Label sheet (8163) and print it in an ink jet printer. Here is the zipped file and the uncompressed .ai.

If you're interested in making LED sequins (surface-mount LED's soldered to crimping beads so you can sew them into wearable applications) check out this page on how I went about it:
