Two code samples for connecting a microcontroller to a remote web server:

Network Datalogging Suite - This set of programs connects a microcontroller to a desktop machine running Processing via RS-232 serial communication, and Processing to a web server via a PHP CGI script.

Xport-to-net - This example is similar to the last one, but connects the microcontroller to the PHP CGI script directly, via a Lantronix Xport device.
