Introducton

It is important to note that this is an pressure sensor, not to be confused with a force sensitive resistor which deals with a different type of pressure, the MPX x5050 and its family deal strictly with air pressure

Pin Descriptions

This is a six pin sensor, however only 3 of the pins are used to hook up a basic i/o, or microcontroler to get serial a reading. Below shows the details of all of the pins, this is useful for an in depth understanding. The image below the diagram descibe the pin uses for power (vcc) ground and out(v out).

The Mpx5050 is considered ideal for microcontrollers and microprocessers.

  Additional parts needed 

At the barest essential you need air to create pressure, this can be done by hooking up a balloon. Rubber tubing, a windy day , running quickly, strapping it to a car, taking it for a fly , attaching it to a kite. Its up to you imagination but most likely you will need a way to direct the air pressure into the MPXx5050 and its family members ( the MPX5050D which does not have a nozzle, and the MPX5050p which has 2 nozzles) All of the family members of this sensor are on the same data sheet which is handy.

Electrical Characteristics

-The mpx5050 requires 5v Supply Voltage. The minimum is 4.74 and max 5.25, so there is a litte wiggle room but its 5v. -Supply current ov 7.0 and max of 10 - the full scale uotput is 4.7Vdc , almost 5v

   Application Notes

Depending on how you choose to trap the air and get it into a sensor via some kind of baloon or tubing, it will need callibration. remember this sensor is not ment to recieve air blown into it per se.
