a globe that tells time without numbers, using light.
this project takes time out of the realm of numbers and abstraction and back to the spacial dimension. Time is in a large part determined by the rotation of the earth on its axis on a daily basis. This project uses a globe emerged in water and surrounded by lights as a way visualize time in this original manner. Looking at the globe one can get a clear and useful sense of what stage of the day it is around the globe. This allows the viewer to make meaningful decisions, say whether they should call someone in Europe, or when to leave the office without ever knowing the precise numerical time. It also provides a far better visual understanding of time then a standard clock ever could. And it looks good to boot.
