| A play on exposure and privacy; what is revieled and what is hidden. |
Open Book is an installation that expores privacy and intimacy.
materials include:
uerathane cast book
lead formed book jacket
plaster pillow
polypropelene stand.
a viewers proximity/ movement determines availible level of engagement; it is not necessary that the total experiece be known. \"partial\" is a ligitamate experience outcome |

| Personal Statement: | The piece is a material representation of ideals around \"reveiling and exposing\" toward a creative purpose. |
| Audience: | Open Book is an installation to evoke in the user/ viewer ideas on intamacy and privacy. |
| User Scenario: | Book always broadcast a sound at very low volume. as a viewer approaches, proximity registered and volume raises, at the same time values in (Max/MSP) start filters making sound confussing. If the user obscures lights aimed on the open book, filter levels drop and audio (text) can be understood. |
| Technical System Description: | Much of the sound for the piece comes from manipulated screen reader. The text is Rilke. the aiff is opened in max/msp which is connected through midi hardware and photo sensors. |
