Portable video devices are everywhere, but have they truly changed the way we use the medium? I would hypothesize that current content makes people less mobile and more passive with regard to their environment. Why watch television on your iPod just because you can—certainly there must be a more active way to integrate video into our lives! Modern Trip is an experiment in the conceptualization of content specifically for portable video.

Specifically, Modern Trip is a stylized travel guide for locations throughout the United States. Rather than include any and all information available (as with services like Vindigo) Modern Trip is extremely specific in matching the interests of its intended urban audience and offers four short videos delineated by topic. Modern Trip is not a video travel magazine. Rather, Modern Trip feels as though an informed local created their ideal day of eating, sightseeing, shopping, and sleeping in their own hometown; and then made a high-quality video about it.

The idea behind Modern Trip is to reconnect individuals to their environment, and this concept could be extended to create other video content not necessarily related to travel.
