Description
DJing has become increasingly popular in recent years. The advent of portable mp3 players has created a new generation of “MP3 DJ’s”. Mash-ups and remixes are now a standard part of our musical landscape. Gone are the days of DJing as an esoteric art practiced only by a few. Today, DJing is accessible to all. The goal of this project is to create a fully functioning digital DJ interface to accommodate these changing attitudes. The MXS is a portable, easy to use DJ interface for amateurs. It was designed to eliminate as many technical barriers as possible without losing key functionality.
Personal Statement
I have been a DJ for many years. I am interested in creating new tools for this field.
Background
Serato, Final Scratch, Ms. Pinky, iDJ, Plunderphonics, Grey Album
Audience
Anybody who has a desire to DJ.
User Scenario
I will give the user some basic instructions, or they will read them. Then they will use the device based on these instructions. This project has sound. I would like the sound to be loud. There will also be a video demo of the project in use playing on a separate computer or TV as well.
Implementation
I am creating a hardware interface to control a MAX/MSP patch.
