Large scale installation based motion tracking utilizing the New York City urban environment

Description
A digital version of magnetic fridge poetry that uses the landscape of New York as the material and pallete. The purpose is to explore different ways we can recontextualize the inundation of text encountered everyday, utilizing interactive technology to combine dynamic dimensions with established forms of expression in pop culture.
Personal Statement
The Process of collecting text and creating a graphical UI that displays and manipulates the users ideas of socially constructed marketing speak in a nonorganic and non natural environment of a city.
Audience
people who have an attraction to the element of play
User Scenario
The process involves users being able to stand in front of a screen (as shown in the attached image) a GUI will display multiple images of words and text from the city. Users will be able to manipulate the location of the 'magnets' with a lasert pointer using a combination of edge and brightness detection and create phrases and narratives.
Implementation
installation consist of a screen, projector, computer, DV camera and java/processing code
Conclusion
motion tracking and OOP is a pain in the ass until you get it right.
