| a visually and conceptually engaging art piece about time that allows you to interact with your own past self | ||
| I like to experiment. An idea came to me and I wanted to see if it was possible. I wanted to realize it and see if the physical real world creation would work as well as the idea in my mind. The idea: Simply have the live image of a person cut out and replaced with the image from a moment ago. I'm also interested in exploring the concept of interactivty and like to make the audience engage without flashing buttons or telling them what to do. This is a project that allows the audience to become the performer and to access the past and affect the present using their bodies relationship to what is being viewed. | ||
| Background: | I'm interested in ways of viewing time in a digital context. How can I manipulate live video in an interesting way? How can I create something visually engaging that didn't exist before using only the live video input as my source material? This is my answer. | |
| Audience: | Anybody who walks by and is interested in seeing themselves in a new context. | |
| User Scenario: | The audience realizes on some level the manner in which the image is formed and starts to try to manipulate it by their interaction with it. The viewing of the piece coaxes the viewer into interaction/reaction. | |
| Technical System Description: | Video input that is manipulated using c, and output in some fashion: projector or large format screen. | |
| Project References, Research and Literature: | Anybody who has done live video manipulation before has influenced this piece in some way. | |
| Conclusions: | Writing code in c can be fun! I still can't write it from scratch but I've gotten over my intial slump of not understanding what I see before me, and come to being able to manipulate small chuncks with ease and to do my bidding. | |
