Eyeglasses are essential wearable technologies. A tool, a private space, an insignia of the wearers personality, a fashion accessory.

Through this industrial design project I consider spectacles as sculptural personal expression. I also seek to understand eye-wear ergonomics and rapid prototyping processes to produce eyeglass frames of perfect fit and an individualized design character. Utilizing these technologies I also explore the possibility of a production pipeline that would render eyeglasses made to 'measure'.

The process:

Modeling in Alias Maya 3D software.

Rapid prototyping stereolitography rendering.

Polyethylene casting of prototype.

Laser cutting of animal horn.

Hand finishing.
