Classes
Introduction to Physical Computing

A lamp that turns on when you wave at it. It uses a proximity sensor to recognize the wave motion to turn lamp on and off. Also if hand is held before the sensor, the lamp will dim.

The lamp is also made out of natural looking materials making it a beautiful environmental piece.

Audience
People who seek an inviting alternative to the everyday lamp.

User Scenario
Users can play with turning the lamp on and off. They can also play with dimming the lamp.

Implementation
The base is made of wood with a patch cooper mesh that hides the sensor. The mesh patch is big enough to inspire interaction. The Top is wood frames with interesting paper designs to diffuse the light from the light bulb hidden inside. (Think a combination of a theatrical gobo and gel)
