Forest

Using audio-driven animation, this music video is a short journey through a dark and mysterious forest, following what seems to be the path of a girl in the distance.

This is a music video for the song Jasmine by Jai Paul. The viewer is taken on a short journey through a dark and mysterious forest, following what seems to be the path of a girl in the distance. The video explores the use of audio-driven animation, combined with a bold visual aesthetic to hopefully provoke a visceral reaction from the viewer.

Background
I really enjoyed working on the project for the midterm, and I really wanted to make a video that would capture the entire song, and be more of a complete story (the midterm was only 30 seconds of the song). I also wanted to explore the use of audio-driven animation since the song is such a huge part of the mood. As a result, I started to learn and experiment with Trapcode Sound Keys to make a stronger visual connection between the music and the video.

Audience
Anyone and everyone.

User Scenario
The user will put on headphones and watch the video from start to finish. Ideally it will be in a darker space, with ample space to see the screen and few obstructions. The music needs to be heard clearly, and the the headphones also allow the user to block out all the other sounds and get a full sense for the mood of the video.

Implementation
The video was made using After Effects and Illustrator.

Conclusion
I learned how powerful After Effects and Sound Keys are. I learned a lot about audio waves as well. It's been a great experience to be able to actually create and convey the exact type of mood I've always wanted to create but never had the tools to do.
