DJ is such a important role of dance music since 1906. Unfortunately most of the DJ don\’t have a chance to to manipulate music with gestures because DJ electronic instrument are mostly just knobs and buttons. With Groovy Hand, the new musical instrument, DJ can easily manipulate songs with gestures, therefore audience can easily understand what DJ is doing on the stage. Also, the audience feedback sound is highly used in [Groovy Hand] to create interactive performance.

LivelyHood is a web application, where children explore perceptions of community, by drawing a map of their neighborhood, composed of the static structures and moving bodies that are a part of their day to day experience. A content uploading feature allows for the placement of relevant photos and text onto a separate layer of the map. The maps serve as location-based blogs that are continually updated by the child, with the intent of giving them a voice in urban planning.

TeleBanter is a mobile conversation game where anonymous callers are randomly connected together to share in a conversation and then rated based on \”good\” conversation characteristics. Access to the Internet and any mobile phone are the only things needed to play. Interested participants are connected based on time availability to have a conversation and shared topic interests. The conversation will be monitored for analysis of \”good\” conversation characteristics and then given a score based on both participants. Both the caller and receiver will also have an opportunity to rate each other\’s conversing skills. Afterwards, the participants are encouraged to visit the TeleBanter website to see their recent conversation performance and the scores of the top conversationalists.

Open Source Visualization Framework provides visualization artists a website, OpenVisuals.org, in which they can find interesting data sets to visualize, a visualization API to import the data shared on the website and to create a visualization on top of it. It also gathers these open source visualizations and data sets under one hood, making it possible to map them to each other on the fly, and enables the community to share, communicate, and collaborate on data visualization.

Personal and collective memory is in constant flux. Is it ever worthwhile to make any attempt to memorialize it? I wish to speak to the transitory nature of human existence and the material world by providing an avenue for a personal, impressionistic path through layers of time.

The project aims at bridging virtual and physical world and reiterates what was ignored in virtual relationship. The project combines two parts: an installation and a website. The installation is the core of the project which provides the vivid experience of interaction between virtuality and reality. And website part represents the unexpected identities people meet in virtual world. People who engages in this project not only interacts with the mechanical and computer system but also people online.

Everyday we carry around with us personal technology devices that help us function, allow us to communicate with others, and facilitate us to do our job. For all the digital functionality we access, there is a physical counterpart to it: people can listen to music from their iPods to block off noise pollution, or alternatively cover their ears with their hands. This project is about finding the medium between these two forms and behaviors, creating something that is both useful and playful, both digital and physical.
