Cloud is a multidimensional information box thats aids the individual
brainstorming process.

While you think of a subject Cloud lets you look at Google search results, Flickr image results and contextual tag clouds in the same box. It maintains context across these engines, whereas all you have to do is switch tabs to view results in different dimensions. You can save interesting thoughts or images that you come across and use these tangents to evolve the idea you began with.

While Cloud is a lens to looking at online information cohesively it is also a stimulant. It generates random thought triggers for you to shift perspective, use random input and re-frame your thinking matrix, enabling you to restructure your idea for differentiation and fun.

It is a conceptual beginning to the idea of an exploratory search box that is capable of presenting contextually linked information in different dimensions such as text, images and associations. Acting as a digital counterpart for a person\’s brainstorming on paper, it is lightweight and requires minimum user input.

The concept of this telescope is based primarily on the idea of reconstruction. It is fueled with the ambition of recreating the past and allowing its user to take a journey through time without losing touch with the present. A site-specific creation, the telescope will be capable of revealing to its user the past condition of whatever location, site, or monument it is pointed at. This particular telescope will be placed outside on of the ITP windows looking out at the corner of Broadway and Waverly place. This way he/she will be given the chance to experience a different era and aura of this particular site simply by “taking a look.”

It attempts to level the playing field for groups that don’t have the capital, the space or resources at their disposal for a high-end (video) conferencing platform.

Thirty Stories is a spoken word art piece presented in the form of a website. It is the story of a woman named Maya\’s life over the course of thirty days. Her life is not a conventional one and her days and nights question the distinction between reality, dreams, time, and space.
On the website you find audio tracks of her stories narrated in a spoken word style. Visually her image is depicted in photographs that place her in something of dream world. You will also find text of the stories and remixes of the audio that add to the understanding of Maya\’s world.
This project uses the Internet, specifically a website, as a new way to express poetry and spoken word thus creating the opportunity for a deeper more satisfying story.

A writer and web designer by trade, I have recently fallen in love with animation. I discovered the medium during my master’s studies at NYU.

I find animation to be a direct and literal way to communicate an idea or tell a story – with absolute freedom of both subject matter and style. With today’s powerful and straightforward animation technology, an artist can create a whole world before lunch.

I was inspired by The Book of Lulu, a CD-ROM published in 1995. The story, written by Romain Victor-Pujebet, is about a lonely little princess who teaches a space-traveling robot to feel human warmth. It’s presented to us as an open book with text and interactive portions where a picture book\’s illustrations would be.

I loved the way The Book of Lulu integrates the written word with images, animation, and sound. I wanted to present one of my own stories the same way.

The story depicts the return of some flawed circus performers to their home at the circus. By the time they arrive, they have driven a truck driver to insanity, offended more than a few noses, and figured out what really matters.

My story, like The Book of Lulu, lives on the printed page – which lives on a computer screen. I\’ve integrated images, motion, and sound to produce a story that says more and invites deeper participation than words could do alone.

It\’s my wish that exploring this strange and animated world makes you feel like a kid again.

With the fast developing technology, electronic appliances have become and continuing to be more widely used in our lives. One of the consequences of having many appliances is the significant amount of energy wasted while they are not being used. The excess usage is caused by the phantom loads and users’ negligent behavior. Studies show that standby power alone accounts for 5 to 15 percent of the electricity wasted in our homes.

Smart Outlets aim to help people live a greener lifestyle by helping them conserve energy. The system is automated to kill power at the outlet level when it detects a device has gone to standby mode. The outlets are also wirelessly networked to cut off unneeded electric flow when a household leaves home and to enable future implementation of remote controlling over the internet.

In a world that is deeply constructed by and mediated through technology, it becomes unclear whether existentialist angst is due to innate tendencies within ourselves or from environmental factors without. It could be argued that modern humans are already cyborgs, existing as a co-construction of self and technological, albeit in dimensions that have little to do with emotional content. Technological development is largely guided towards spaces that seek to serve entertainment or communication needs, but less often hope to engage the person as a complete, holistic being.

Should we begin to explore what it means to develop personal bodily technologies to interpret and guide our negative emotions?

What will these objects look like? Why?
