By detecting the proximity of the viewer, and by implication the viewer’s gaze, the sculpture reacts by showing gentle movements. The piece is intended to address the concerns of beauty in natural forms and materials, and a controlled form of minimal interaction in technologically augmented art.

New Interfaces for Textual Expression is a series of devices intended to create and manipulate text. Analogous to contemporary interfaces for music and image manipulation, New Interfaces for Textual Expression are intuitive but not literal: they map gestures not to characters (as with conventional writing devices, such as the keyboard and the pen), but to broader manipulations of language and layout. The devices suggest new syntaxes for composing, reading, and performing text.

“Inside” is an Interactive video Sculpture Installation that explores the body and mind in the ephemeral moment of creation. This Installation uses a few elements of the body as a site to bring forth the subconscious process of being brought back to this moment of detachment from reality and introspection of the “inside”, the womb.

This installation would not have been possible without the amazing help of Raphael Zollinger

Pocket Learning is an experiment on mobile education. It is an application for the iPhone with example lessons on taking better pictures with the iPhone.
The lessons use short procedural instructions, self-paced lessons, interactive examples and participatory exercises to demonstrate the potential of the platform. Users interested in the topic can also participate by submitting their photographs to be reviewed by their peers or experts in the subject matter.
The application is designed to take advantage of the rich multi-media capabilities of the iPhone, its intuitive and revolutionary interface, as well as its connectivity and many sensors (camera, tilt-sensor, geo-positioning).

REFLECTION is a video installation which represent a feeling of dislocation, disorientation felt by people who share the experience of continously travelling, relocating from place to place for professional or personal reasons, so called modern day nomades.
It uses projected imagery to compose a narrative of visually comparing two cities, i.e.: Shanghai and New York, that are far apart and culturally distant but are architecturally similar. i.e: skylines, night scene. The aim is to create an interesting illusion of seeing the phantom image of another city,i.e.: Shanghai, in the reflection of Manhattan and vice versa.

The beauty of communication is listening. What makes a conversation successful is how good at listening we are. The meaning of listening is to convey message that the listener is accepting a speaker\’s feelings as it is, without judgement. Relationship gets yield in the very process of ‘Listening’, because the experience as we accepted as we are.

The Cube is an interactive installation, purpose of the ‘Healing’ and the ‘Listening’. Also, it is a project, deriving from users to do the self-examination. Thus, the ultimate goal of the Cube is to encourage users in order to face and embrace their feelings. In term of this purpose, it is not against with professional therapy, but rather heading the same direction.

Imagine that all of the knowledge and written work you had accomplished in school related to information from your personal and professional life in a customized database for on-demand retrieval. Synapse is an online personal database for users to construct knowledge by associating new ideas with relevant information captured online, annotating content with original thoughts and observations, and sharing that independent thinking with peers that have similar interests.

Synapse can be used to take notes, perform research, find related knowledge, or record personally relevant information, thereby alleviating the need for copying and pasting links or bookmarking. Users can construct knowledge by creating original ideas in an editor or capturing meaningful information they have read online using a browser extension. Synapse gives users the opportunity to organize information and associate it with similar items using tag words for searching.

Once entered into the database, Synapse uses the tags to find related pieces of personal knowledge and creates tag clouds to navigate to similar content items. Users can also annotate original ideas or captured information with draggable sticky notes to make contextual observations. Both the original idea or captured item along with annotations can be shared with other users who can build on that knowledge by submitting their own ideas.

Synapse connects new concepts with previously explored ideas. It encourages users to explore ways they structure knowledge in a useful and engaging way. In a scholastic context, Synapse creates a record of academic research and learning outcomes that students may revisit and revise on demand for life-long learning and reference. Synapse gives instructors the additionally ability to pre-evaluate students prior to teaching and make informed curriculum decisions about gaps in student knowledge. Instructors can then share information and references in a format that students actively make compatible with their own associations.

Currently, the Internet is rampant with user generated content and personal documentation. Users upload their pictures to online photo sharing sites such as Flickr, post their activities to the micro-blogging platform Twitter, and track their “friends” and associations on social networking sites such as MySpace and Facebook. This is just an abbreviated list of the kind of dynamic connections individuals are making between their own personal lives and the Internet.
What MoodJar attempts to answer, is whether there is a place or use for entering pure emotions into this technological mix. MoodJar at its most fundamental level is a Web 2.0 tool that allows users to record their emotions over time. Its purpose is to provide a way for users to better understand the evolution of their own emotions.

The core existence of MoodJar is a website home base. Here, users can quickly make a mood entry. Each entry consists of a rating that is scaled form -4 to +4 with 0 being neutral. The scale is purposefully limited to create consistency in tracking over time. The second most important portion of each mood entry are tags – a comma delimited list of keywords associated with the given mood. Using a taxonomy system serves to make input quick and succinct, while making output meaningful and simple to comprehend. The last portion of the mood entry is a field where users can leave small notes or reminders about the mood they are entering.

The data input into MoodJar is accessible via the archive portion of the site. Here users can filter their moods by year, month or day. The archive provides a way for users to look for patterns and put their mood in context by streaming in other data from applications such as Flickr or Twitter.
