Maximus is envisioned as a pet robotic table lamp with a personality. It retains the same form as that of a standard table lamp, but mimics human behavior and emotions. Not only does Maximus react to its surroundings, but also reflects on its reactions and changes behavior. The main aim of this project was to inject life into the everyday inanimate objects that surround us. Table lamp being a close personal object allows for such an opportunity.

The word “videa” is a combine of two words – “video” and “idea”. “Videa” refers to the video of great ideas – ideas that are creative, inspiring, profound and knowledgeable. Generally, videos of conference speaks focusing on innovation and creativity would fall into this category.
It is Videaful’s hope to make the “worth spreading” videos get across language barriers to reach and benefit a much larger audience. It attempts to achieve this goal by providing an easy-to-use web based video translation tool and facilitating to build a community around those great video content where anyone can watch, discuss and help translate videos.

The Local Roots program instructs and supports a network of community gardens, schools, and other local organizations as they transform recycled food containers into easily-maintained, water-conserving planters of vegetables and flowers that are then sold affordably within their neighborhoods.

This initiative is designed to:
- Improve community eating habits, help feed those in need, and enable others to save money on fresh produce
- Foster community connections and pride
- Benefit the environment by reusing containers otherwise headed for landfills, creating new green spaces, and reducing the amount of energy used to import food from outside the NYC metropolitan area.
- Recruit new gardeners by making it easy, appealing, and affordable to try
- Create new opportunities for hands-on environmental education programs
- Create appealing, therapeutic community gathering spots and green spaces in otherwise unused or unattractive locations
- Supplement community garden, school, and other organizational budget

Person-to-person and community interaction play the leading roles in this project, but an important supporting element is a social website that includes a discussion board, map of participating organizations, sales and events calendars, gardening tips, information about related organizations, detailed instructions on how to implement the system in communities across and beyond NYC, and multimedia documentation of participant experiences.

Art Robotica is a term I will use to describe the body of work created by the collaboration of \”ArtBot\” and artist. ArtBots are Autonomous Machines that paint or draw on a canvas, sheet of paper or a surface of some kind. Systems that utilizes this concept are currently used widely to create generative or algorithmic art. The ArtBots I am creating, will walk around the surface of a canvas and paint a composition predetermined by the image or video they use as reference. At first glance it will seem that they are painting a random pattern. As time passes by and they lay more paint down, it will be apparent that they are making a figurative painting. I will be making additions to the work since I want the final piece to encapsulate the ideology of the composition in human terms. I look to create paintings with the assistance of machines. I aim to make the machines seem alive. The ArtBots will move and react upon the natural elements. The significance of the work that results from this collaboration is an important milestone in art. It reflects our new codependency and symbiotic relationship with machines. ArtBots are, in essence, collaborators rather than just new tools.

I want to arise the awareness that everyone needs to feel they\’ve been needed, and it\’s ok to admit we\’re needy sometimes.

By doing that, I made two \”needy objects\”, they need the owner\’s attentions to make them work. One is an alarm, to stop the alarm, the owner needs to hug it. Another one is a speaker, the volume will go crazy when the owner is not around. The owner needs to pet it to make it calms down.

My thesis is innovating a new process for creating a volumetric display and developing compelling content for it. The Lumarca is a truly volumetric display which allows viewers to see 3 dimensional images. The system requires only a computer, a projector, and common materials found at most hardware stores. This provides an affordable platform for artists to design compelling content that conveys information, narrative, and aesthetic information in a new way. I\’ve developed several dynamic and interactive pieces and games.

Inspite of the plethora of food-related communities on the web, there isn\’t one that brings out the warm, fuzzy feeling that food is all about.

This projects aims to discover intimate relationship people have with food. The user submissions are in form of love letters written directly to the food they love. Love letter is used as a form for user submissions in the hope that the exercise would lead them to focus on more abstract reasons for loving the food – childhood memories, special associations and feelings that the food evokes.

Radius is comprised of a mobile application and a wearable interface that allows for the subtle delivery of contextually relevant information to a given user. Complementing internet enabled phones, this project aims to decentralize the role of the traditional mobile phone by creating a specialized interface in order to alleviate fundamental usability issues that have arisen with the increasingly capable smart phones of the present day.

The wearable component of this project which is worn on the wrist of the user allows for an \’at a glance\’ awareness of customizable streams of information.

The goal of this project is to address the hegemony of the attention scope imposed by mobile phones of the present day.
