Scrollables is a series of multi-scroll devices, an exploration of possible applications for a paper-based tangible interface. As paper as a medium is more and more threatened by the introduction of portable multi-touch screens and e-readers, the project aims at bringing back the tactile relationship with this material as a way to interact with the digital world. Playing with the metaphor of \”scrolling\” adopted by early research in Human-Computer Interaction, the mouse wheel is replaced by physical scrolls. The end result is a series of boxes and table tops with movable rolls of paper wrapped on their surface, which allow for an interaction with digital applications in new and yet familiar ways.
