Ikea

Tamar Ziv

IKEA is a series of generative audio-visual performances that explores the relationships between shape and sound, symbolic meaning and abstract complexity.

Ikea is a synesthetic musical platform in which, each of it's permutations explores various themes of perception, and symbolic representation.

The driving force of Ikea the use of abstract morphologies of both spatial and musical components into 3 conceptual and unique audio visual landscapes, which are performed live.

Ikea is developed in Max/MSP/Jitter, and uses geometries designed in Maya. The same simple geometrical building blocks (hence named Ikea), are used to initiate, modulate and mutate both sound and form, generatively, and in real time.
