Lack Thereof examines the relationship of the body and technology through the context of prosthesis. This is the first part of a project that addresses the societal construction of normalcy through a performance-based case study of a (dis)abled body. Position #21 addresses the notions of insufficiency and excess as constituents of abnormality.



Through theoretical and experiential experiments, Position #21 examines the common ground between a “normal” and an “abnormal” body, and observes the performativity and physical matter of the two bodies. Furthermore, the project questions “Ideology of Able Body” as a driving apparatus behind prosthetic intervention, and brings up the idea of the insufficiency of the body as a fundamental concept behind technological enhancement.
