Dronestream

Josh Begley

A publicly-accessible API for real-time and historical data about US drone strikes.

Background
The Dronestream API is a simple way of engaging an eleven-year historical archive -- helping visualize the entire history of known United States drone attacks in Pakistan, Yemen, and Somalia. Built as a tool for researchers, legal scholars, and web developers, the API takes data that has already been collected by The Bureau of Investigative Journalism and makes it machine-readable. Whether you want to download everything as a spreadsheet or write a web application that pulls in real-time information, Dronestream allows you to dig into a largely hidden data set and display the contours of covert war for yourself.
