A Portrait of the Self

Susanne Forchheimer

A Portrait of the Self is research and analysis of outward facing photos collected over one year. It is an exploration and journey into self-discovery.

Description

I am exploring my year as a pictorial journey. Approximately 200,000 photos were collected using an automatic, wearable camera positioned at chest height. The massive amount of raw data made it possible to create meaning greater than a single image’s content alone. By processing the images and their metadata using various techniques such as color analysis, face and object recognition and qualifying social interactions I am identifying trends and patterns in my own behavior.
