Description

This is an on-screen experience built using 3D depth data, video textures, sound, narration and still images. Users navigate the portrait using simple computer interactions. As a traversal through time in the lives of others, this is an experience that culminates in a multi-dimensional and navigable portrait, a representation not only of a person's surface appearance, but of the key elements that make them a unique individual. We are all the sum total of memories and experiences — cultural background, fears and desires, circumstances of our lives and the events that reshaped us. My attempt is to go beyond the frame of the portrait to capture the story beneath the face. Moving through a virtual space, a viewers experience the memories of someone else, and perhaps begin to empathize with the subject in a deeper, more meaningful way.
