Ideas Taking Shape: Product Design

Butterhugz is an Interactive stuffed pillow toy that resembles a butterfly, that provides pleasant company for children that are infant to toddler aged at night. It has embedded sensors inside of it to allows parents, teachers, and educators to record data on developmental progress, while children still get the enjoyment of having a soft companion to keep them company at night. Butterhugz also has a mobile interface to it, via the BeanSprout mobile interactive interface that tracks early childhood developmental milestone data such as squeezing, hugging, twisting, hitting, and pulling. When butterhugz is hugged, s/he vibrates and lights up in different ways. This data can be shared and collaborated with amongst parents, day care providers, medical professionals, and service providers to determine whether a child\'s social, emotional, and motor development is on track.
