The Magnetophone consists of a 3 foot clear tower covered on the outside with 14 guitar strings. The strings are all different lengths and pitches. Each string has an electromagnet that vibrates that string at one of the string's resonant frequencies. Different strings vibrate at different times with chords and melodies forming. A genetic algorithm evolves the music to be more calm or more tense based on how much activity happens in proximity of the Magnetophone.
