Ramps: A Physical Interface to Technology for Wheelchair Users

Carefully designed open interactive play environments provide an important catalyst for young children participaating in physical and occupational therapy.

PedalPlay is a project that will demonstrate that motivating children with autism to use a stationary bicycle, by adapting the bicycle to provide audio and visual responses when being operated, will help this form of exercise to become a more effective component of the children’s physical therapy.

The thesis tells a story of an Assistive Technology (AT) invention that matures into a universal-design innovation, describing why it was necessary for the process to take place, and how it was implemented.
