EVENT: Don Undeen, MediaLab at Met Museum of Art
|March 15, 2013|
|3:30 pm||to||5:30 pm|
Don Undeen is the Manager of the MediaLab at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and is interested in the intersection of technology, community, and the institution. Keeping up with the latest developments in technology is hard for a large institution, but also a way of life for countless New Yorkers. On the other hand, the timeless collections of our great cultural institutions continue to inspire creative production in the most contemporary of mediums. Don’s theory is that there is a (mostly) vacant space, where the DIY hacker spirit can join forces with the curatorial mission; where creative technologists can partner up with culture junkies; where museum nerds and regular nerds can share ideas and Do Things™.
Don’s going to talk about the recent Met/Makerbot 3D Hackathon, and his plans for the new Museum MediaLab Meetup. If you’re interested in doing creative technology work using museum content or inspiration, or interested in an internship at the Met, come check it out.
