Design For UNICEF
Thursday, Dec 15
at 9:30am
It’s open to the public, as long as
you RSVP here: http://designforunicef.eventbrite.comPresentations happen in the Danny Kaye Visitor’s Centre (UNICEF House, 3 UN Plaza, 44th Street between 1st and 2nd Avenue).
Students have focused on designing solutions to last-mile problems for Northern Uganda. They’ve worked with New York and Uganda-based UNICEF staff, as well as top designers and thinkers from academia and the regular world. Each group will give a 10 minute presentation, followed by Q+A. It’s going to be pretty great.
The projects:
- LifeCycle – a kit that makes it easy to connect two bicycles together into a mobile stretcher or cart.
- Plastic Of The Future - documentation and methodologies for transforming plastic bags into waterproof plastic fabric and other materials.
- RePlayables – a set of modular games on paper and cardboard for children and adolescents in emergencies.
- MoMedia – a video projecting bicycle to bring media to hard-to-reach and low-literacy populations, especially in rural areas.
Taught by Jorge Just. Once again, it would be super helpful to me, if you can make it, to RSVP: http://designforunicef.eventbrite.com
