ITP Alum ’01 Cynthia Lawson’s shows

09/20 – 10/05
Please join me for the opening reception of this exciting group show next
Saturday, September 20th, 8pm-midnight

Madarts: 255 18th St (b/w 5th & 6th Aves.), Brooklyn, NY
Gallery hours: Weekends, 12-6pm or Thursdays 6-9pm
If you would like to see the show but cannot come to the opening, let me know and I’ll be happy to meet you at the gallery

At Madarts Studios, a unique artist-run facility, each of the participating artists exhibits new work twice a year at the Madarts Gallery. This fall’s show title, SCAPES, refers not only to the more traditional theme of landscapes, but connects to multi-branched ideas of exploration, as in: mindscapes, cityscapes, seascapes, moonscapes, videoscapes, escapes, etc.

I will be expanding on my series of light boxes with new work photographed this summer in Rio de Janeiro (and on my way there, at JFK.) – attached is a digital rendering of “MAC 3 Seconds (outside)” from images taken in Niteroi, Brazil.

I was one of the lucky faculty who traveled to Guatemala in June with a group of students from The New School to collaborate with Ajkem’a Loy’a, a Mayan artisan women’s association.  You may have followed some of the work accomplished via our blog (URL above), and on view will be documentation from the entire process as well as our final outcomes.
