MOBILIZE: Cross Platform Mobile App Development with PhoneGap

In this workshop we’ll learn the basics of using PhoneGap to develop cross-platform mobile applications.  PhoneGap is an open source platform that allows individuals with front end web development skills to develop installable applications using their knowledge of HTML, JavaScript and CSS.  Using PhoneGap, you can develop applications for the iPhone, Android, Blackberry, Windows Phone and more with one code base.

Shawn runs a mobile and streaming media consultancy to help companies better utilize emerging technologies related to audio and video with a focus on mobile and streaming applications. His clients have ranged from 19 Entertainment, MoMA and Disney to Morgan Stanley and Lehman Brothers to NYU Medical School and WITNESS along with countless start-ups.  Additionally, Shawn has taught in various capacities at NYU Abu Dhab and in the Interactive Telecommunications Program. His teaching is varied and includes courses onparticipatory and social media, programming, mobile technologies and interactive telephony. In 2008 he was honored with the David Payne Carter award for excellence in teaching.  Shawn holds a Master’s degree in Interactive Telecommunications from NYU and a Bachelor’s degree in Media Study from SUNY at Buffalo.
