Robotic System Wins Emmy

ITP Alums Bob Berger and Gilad Rosner are very proud to announce that SAMMA, the System for the Automated Migration of Media Assets, was awarded an Emmy last week. Bob and Gilad were part of the original development team for SAMMA, seeing it from conception to prototype to production model. Ultimately, Bob became (and still is) the chief installation and service technician, and Gilad owns the manufacturing supply chain. Since its birth, SAMMA has preserved over 300,000 hours of important video assets around world, including collections at the Library of Congress, the Shoah Foundation, ABC television, and the European Parliament. Recently, Bob went to Tanzania to install two fully robotic SAMMA’s to preserve the video collection of Rwandan Genocide testimonies for the United Nations.
