Forms and Metaforms

Extending architecture beyond the exsiting realms into spaces that seem unreal but yet are true. This is the one main thing that I derived from the works of metaforms by various architects.
While it was great to see a woman Zaha Hadid get accolades for her works in this area, the works of François Roche interested me the most. He very aptly said that bodies would thus have become the physical attributes of an individual choice and this seems so very true in todays sense, where in the cultured organs, artificial parts and prosthetic limbs are so widely used to give new hope and life to a human.Fancois Roche, in his work - genetics extends and gives an architectural form to the human body which is so true when one looks at it as a combinations of structures and parts; in a way a well defined architectural piece in itself. In his works, the use of artificial limbs and parts in the body defines an experiment in itself that could constitute the use of new material in the “construction of the body” or when the various parts of the body are give a purpose that go beyond its basic function and become extensions of physical devices. His use of these features in the creation of works, seem to replicate a body part or its dynamism.
The other work piece called I've heard about....( a flat fat growing urban experiment) reminded me about the slums the infect most big cities in India. Like his work represents these are dwellings of people who live on illegal lands. These are immigrants from smaller towns and villages and are in the city with a dream of making it big one day. Their habitat is like that of a coral that infringes every little space it gets and incase restricted ,grows in another direction. With time the people claim owership and rights of owning a specific area since they occupied first but in reality place belongs to the government.

Its ironic that though his work is named "I've heard about...." I have actually seen his work in a social and real setup.
