There are way too many humans on the planet, and we need to find a way to mitigate the damage we're doing until things get bad enough that we start limiting the right to pregnancy. On a more personal level, I'm very interested in finding a way to live off the grid, both to reduce my impact on the planet as well as to remove my dependency on large organizations. Self-sufficiency is important to me. Having the ability to support myself and my family through conscious choices is important to me. Being able to actualize those choices is important to me, and right now those choices (things like grey water systems, organic foods, sustainable agriculture and power sources) aren't available. I'd like them to be.
That the bell curve and ignorance have combined to combat logical thinking and right action, and that those of us who are capable of making good choices and decisions aren't able to bring those choices and decisions into being.
I'd like to read and review Shaping Things by Bruce Sterling. I'll put a link up from both the book resources page and from here to the review page once it's written and posted. Here it is. |
