I'm a second-year student at ITP. Although I participated in a number of Sustainable Practices projects last semester, this is my first time officially taking the class. I've got several new sustainability ideas that I'd like to explore at ITP.
- Take ITP projects off the grid by implementing small solar and kinetic sources
- Survey ITP for areas where materials aren't getting an initial use before entering the waste stream. For example the stacks of clean napkins, unused electronic components that fall on the floor, new plastic cups that go straight in the trash and so forth.
- Create programs to ensure initial use, and encourage subsequent reuse where possible.
- Turn trash into resource by creating a pooled library of catalogs from the junk mail we all receive. Simultaneously reduce the amount of junk mail with a tutorial and materials on stopping unwanted catalogs.
My class blog is where I'll be posting project information and updates.
I'll be reading and reviewing Water Wars.
Here's my blurb on Water Wars.
